Congratulations to Dr. Conner Massey and co-authors, Drs. Gretchen Oakley, Richard Orlandi, Shae Ashby, Jeremiah Alt, Kristine Smith, and Abby Pulsipher, for presenting their research, “An Eosinophil Peroxidase Activity Assay Predicts Acute Exacerbations in Post-Operative Chronic Rhinosinusitis,” in the “Top 5 Clinical Abstracts” session at the 2024 American Rhinologic Society Meeting at COSM! This work was recently published in the International Forum of Allergy & Rhinology (May 2024). Eosinophil peroxidase (EPX) activity has been correlated with a diagnosis of eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis (eCRS) and disease severity. In their work, EPX activity was shown to correlate with post-operative antibiotic and steroid use in CRS, suggesting the utility of EPX activity to serve as a prognostic biomarker of CRS disease severity and control.
